Fit for a dunking

To be a woman in Western Australia means that you are considered fit for a dunking. It’s not quite the same as waterboarding — you do not always have to feel that you are drowing from it. But you do have to realise that, as you are bobbing around on the surface of the water trying to earn a living, others have the right to dunk you wherever and whenever they choose. If you find that you are being dunked a lot, it is probably because you are too arrogant, and deserve it. The point is to try to only be dunked as little as possible — that is by keeping mum (or even better, by being mum) and not attracting any attention to oneself.

Whereas men are not considered to be quite so fit for dunking, women generally are. There is always a reason to dunk women: It could be that the silly cow just isn’t thinking straight, and therefore deserves a very public dunking. More often, though, its because her head seems to rise higher than yours does out of the water that we are all treading. That may be an illusion, in point of fact — but to be on the safe side, better give her a dunking.

Such is life in Western Australia!

We are very advanced.
