The revenue to fund free education should come from progressive taxation on the wealth accumulated by the upper 10%

Education should be free from kindergarten through the post graduate phase. The revenue to fund free education should come from progressive taxation on the wealth accumulated by the upper 10% of the population. After all, the upper 10% possess 80% of the wealth the other 90% produce.

  1. The term ‘social compact’ popped up a few times with the recent release of the federal budget, but its underlying argument doesn’t seem to hold as much sway or relevence as it must have done in earlier decades. These days it seems like you either support neo-liberalism or you don’t.

So you must be a communist.

Don’t you realise that if Australia starts forcing the wealthiest to pay for basic public services, and thereby possibly giving some slight meaning to the ceaseless accumulation of capital, that they’ll take all their investment money elsewhere? That if they don’t get what they want they become terrorists with trillion dollar budgets?
